Many customers are complaining that Stanley Matte is chipping. If this is happening to your cup: there are a few things you can do.
Silicone chips when you drop, scratch, or under general use. But sometimes, it can also just be a manufacturer defect. Lucky for you, Stanley offers a lifetime warranty, and most times they will replace your cup.
However, none of my Stanley Tumblers have chipped, but I have done my research on the subject. I have read many Reddit posts and TikTok comments, and 90% of the time, the company sends a new Tumbler. But you may not receive your original color.
If the silicon or paint coating of your Stanley tumbler is chipping, there is no need to worry. You have several options to fix it: ask warranty for a replacement. Add stickers, paint your cup, put stickers or vinyl on it, or purchase a new one altogether.
Stanley Warranty And Their Replacement For Chipped Tumblers
As stated above, many customers are getting a new Stanley Cup if they email warranty. But one Reddit user claimed the company says their warranty does not cover paint chipping but offered a replacement nonetheless to him.
There is a higher chance of receiving a replacement Tumbler if the chipping occurred a few days after purchase. The color choices for the warranty replacements were not extensive, and you may not get your original color.
To reach out to Stanley Warranty, you will need to submit a ticket that asks for basic information. When you receive an email from support, they may ask for proof of purchase and pictures of the chipped areas.
Also, they may ask you to discard the tumbler that is chipping after you receive your replacement.
Add Stickers To Cover Minor Scratches
If your Stanley Tumbler has major chips or scratches, especially at the bottom, it’s best to replace it.
But for minor chips or scratches, you can add a sticker on the chip area to cover it up.
Decorating your tumbler with stickers is a popular way to make it your own. Hello Kitty stickers are a popular choice. There are many different stickers available to choose from. They can withstand hand washing and are easy to remove if you want to switch them up.

Paint Your Stanley Cup
Stanley tumblers are very easy to paint on. Any acrylic paint is your best bet. {I love these}
There are two ways to go about it. You can try to match the current color so that it hides the paint chip and makes it look brand new. Like the YouTube video above, you can add creative designs.
Another perfect tool to use is Posca Pens, which can touch up little spots. Also, ensure to add a varnish to cover your paint job.
Purchase A New Stanley Cup + Boot For Protection
It is the most expensive way to go because a Stanley Cup is $45-50 plus shipping. But you can benefit from buying a non-matte Stanley.
Many of the chipping complaints are from customers who purchase the Matte version of the cups. You may want to stick with Stanley’s regular colors.
Purchasing a boot for under your tumbler will decrease any wear or tear and chipping from occurring under your cup. It is very cheap, and you can find many designs, so be creative when choosing a boot. Find boots here.
