Do Stanley 40 oz Fit In A Car Cup Holders?

When I first bought my Stanley cup I removed it from the box right in my car and placed it into the cup holder.

My Nissan Versa held that cup safely while I drove home. It was my first cup so I was a bit protective of it. The next day, I tried fitting it with the boot on my cup. It didn’t work. So I just removed the boot.

Besides that, it was something I was looking forward to testing. I am always in my car so it comes in handy when you can stretch your hands and grab a sip of cold water or on some days hot coffee.

No matter the size, the Stanley Qrencher tumblers can fit in most cars because of its slender bottom area. The 64oz Stanley will not fit in a car cup holder because of its size. So you can always opt for a cup holder expander.

My favorite is the Seven Sparta. It is cheaper than most and holds your cup tightly even through bumpy rides.

Plus, it has large slots for cups with handles.

Before purchasing a cup, checking if it fits in a standard car cup holder is best. The base diameter is important as a cup with a wide base won’t fit and won’t be convenient for on-the-go use.

Similarly, a tall and narrow cup is more likely to tip over than a shorter and wider cup, especially while driving through corners or bumpy roads.

Stanley offers various cup sizes so their dimensions may vary slightly. Knowing the specifics before determining whether you would need an expander is a good idea.

Consider How It Fits In Your Car Cup Holder

Even if the cup technically fits, you should consider how well it fits.

  • Is there extra space, making the cup rattle around or feel unstable?
  • Is the fit overly snug, requiring effort to insert and remove?
  • The ideal fit is snug enough to prevent tipping but loose enough for easy use.

Some vehicles might have larger cup holders in the front and smaller ones in the back, or vice-versa.

The Cars I Have Tested So Far Using The 40oz Stanley

Well the cars I have tested, my 40oz fits perfectly. We had a birthday at our home recently, so about 50 of my relatives were there.

They allowed me to test my theory and whoever car I did not test had a Stanley cup already and they all agreed their tumbler fit great.

Most modern cars have a cup holder of about 3 inches in diameter and up. So there was no problem there.

Regarding my boot problem, some of my relatives had problems fitting their tumblers with the boot on.

We all agreed to boot off in the holder.

Center Console Cup VS Door Cup Holders

Placing the Stanley Cup in your door cup holder can be difficult due to its tall height and narrow base. The best option is to use the center console cup holder, as it is the most spacious.

However, be cautious when using cup holders located near the dashboard, on doors, or the back of the center console, as they may not be able to fit the Stanley Cup.

Make sure to use cup holders with at least 14 inches of clearance above, as most Stanley Cups are between 10.8” and 12.3” tall.
