Can You Put Hot Drinks In A Stanley Ice Flow? Answered

I have both the Stanley Quencher and Ice Flow (flip straw) and I often compare them.

There is a specific area on the lid where you can sip hot coffee or tea from the Quencher. However, the Ice Flow’s built-in straw on the lid is not suitable for hot drinks.

It’s possible to burn your mouth. With Fast Flow, you can drink hot drinks, but not extremely hot ones, just to be safe.

For daily use with coffee and water, I always reach for the Quencher, and for long walks and gym use, I prefer the Ice Flow for cold drinks.

Why You Should Not Drink Hot Drinks From Your Ice Flow Flip Straw?

It’s all in the name of the tumbler Ice Flow, so I strongly believe the creators never intended this product to hold hot drinks.

Even the official product page emphasizes “cold drinks”.

The insulation isn’t the problem because, like the Quencher, the Ice Flow has double-wall vacuum insulation.

So, the tumbler can handle hot drinks.

One word, “the straw”. Hot liquids rushing through a straw can concentrate the heat on a small area of your mouth, potentially causing burns to your lips and tongue.

Plus, straws lead to quicker drinking, which can be dangerous with hot beverages. You might accidentally swallow a mouthful before it cools down enough.

Yikes!

What About The Ice Flow Fast Flow?

Again, this line was created with Ice and cold drinks in mind. But you can always add hot or warm beverages.

My sister, who insisted on staying away from the Quencher, loves enjoying something hot after hiking. She would carry her Fast Flow (it is so lightweight) with hot tea and a small tea cup and pour the tea into her cup.

She is just using the Fast Flow for the insulation properties.

However, Stanley hardcore fan knows Ice Flow is only for cold drinks!

Opt For The Stanley Quencher

I understand that the Ice Flow Flip Straw handle is excellent. It doesn’t sit oddly on the side like the Quencher. It’s leak-proof and overall amazing.

However, if you need a tumbler that can also hold hot drinks, go for the Quencher. It offers the best of both worlds.

I personally prefer the 40oz size, but there are smaller and larger sizes available too.
